    Kurt Jewson

    Folkypoptastic

Kurt Jewson is an acoustic singer-songwriter from the far southwest of the UK.

Growing up in the village of Porthleven he spent an idyllic childhood messing around in boats and going out to sea with his dad, who was a commercial fisherman and latterly harbourmaster, whilst his mum ran the family corner shop.

In 2015, aged 44, Kurt was diagnosed with locally advanced prostate cancer. His subsequent social media post, showing him in just his boxer shorts, revealing catheter and colostomy bags, was viewed over 20 million times on Facebook and saw his image spread all over the world.

Since that time Kurt has undergone many treatments including hormone, radio and chemotherapy and is now in remission.

In 2022 Kurt suffered a heart attack and underwent emergency surgery to have two cardiac stents implanted.

He’s planning a less dramatic future.

    Working sail

To mark the 10 year anniversary of his cancer diagnosis, Kurt has recorded and released a collection of original songs.

'Working sail' is a homage to his upbringing, his hometown and laments the passing of time and tide.

(He may have also snuck a love song in there as well…good man!)
