From the recording Working Sail
When I was a boy my dad was a commercial fisherman.
My mum ran a shop called, 'Cliff Road Stores' in the same village.
Every time my dad set off for sea, I would cry and ask him to take me along.
I remember vividly that one day he came back home, probably because he'd forgotten his flask or something, and said, "You were crying so loudly that I could hear you down at the harbour! Come on then, wanna trip?" And off we went...
This song is about that day.
Lyrics
If I cry
Would you come back home and take me with you?
Take me to sea, coming home
Take me to sea, coming home
I’ll be here
I’ll wipe away the tears
And years will fall behind
To way back when
I was just a small boy then
Come back home
I’m alone
Back from the sea
For me
Back from the sea
